DoD Impact Level IL-2 through IL-6
When national security is on the line, you need advisors who have been there. Our team has led DoD Cloud Computing SRG authorizations across all impact levels, from IL-2 public cloud deployments to IL-6 classified environments. We've supported missions for US-SOCOM, Air Force Global Strike Command, and Space Force, bringing firsthand experience to every engagement.
The Challenge: Defense-Grade Cloud Compliance
The Department of Defense Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (DoD CC SRG) establishes some of the most stringent security requirements in the world. Cloud Service Providers and defense contractors must navigate a complex matrix of impact levels, each with escalating controls, isolation requirements, and authorization processes. The path from FedRAMP to DoD authorization requires specialized expertise that most consultancies simply don't have.
Beyond FedRAMP
Whether your cloud service offering has a FedRAMP Moderate or FedRAMP High authorization, we have the expertise to navigate the uplift of any DoD Impact Level.
Infrastructure Complexity
Higher impact levels demand dedicated infrastructure, DISA connectivity, and physical isolation requirements that fundamentally change your architecture.
Extended Timelines
DoD PA processes involve DISA review, AO coordination, and often require interim authorizations. Without experienced guidance, timelines can stretch to 18 months or more.
Understanding DoD Impact Levels
Each impact level corresponds to the sensitivity of the data being processed and the potential impact to national security if compromised. We provide consulting services across the full spectrum.
Public and Non-Critical Data
Non-controlled unclassified information approved for public release. Requires FedRAMP Moderate baseline. Suitable for public-facing DoD websites and non-sensitive workloads.
Controlled Unclassified Information
CUI and non-critical mission data. Requires FedRAMP Moderate or High baseline plus additional DoD-specific controls and overlays. The most common level for defense contractors handling CUI.
Higher Sensitivity CUI and Mission Data
CUI requiring enhanced protection and unclassified National Security Systems. Requires dedicated infrastructure physically separated from commercial tenants. Our team has direct IL-5 authorization experience.
Classified Information up to SECRET
Classified national security information. Requires air-gapped infrastructure, cleared personnel, and SCIF-level physical security. The highest cloud classification level below TOP SECRET.
Why Traverge for DoD Compliance
Our team has operated at the highest levels of DoD cloud security, with direct experience supporting warfighter missions and classified programs.
Veteran Leadership
Our founder served in the 82nd Airborne Division and brings a warfighter's perspective to every engagement. We understand the mission, not just the compliance requirements.
IL-5 and IL-6 Experience
We've led FedRAMP+ (DoD IL-5/IL-6) authorization activities for major security vendors, navigating the complex requirements of dedicated and classified infrastructure.
Space and SOF Operations
Our advisors have supported US-SOCOM, Space Force, and Air Force Global Strike Command missions, developing Zero Trust architectures for space systems and 5G/6G deployments.
DoD DevSecOps Expertise
We participated in the inaugural DoD DevSecOps working groups, contributing to container security approaches now used across defense programs. We understand how to build security into CI/CD pipelines.
DoD Authorization Services
DoD SRG Gap Assessment
3 to 6 WeeksComprehensive analysis of your current FedRAMP authorization against DoD CC SRG requirements for your target impact level. We identify gaps in controls, infrastructure, and documentation, providing a clear roadmap to Provisional Authorization.
IL-4 and IL-5 Authorization Support
16 to 24 WeeksEnd-to-end support for achieving DoD Provisional Authorization at IL-4 or IL-5. Includes control implementation guidance, SSP development, DISA coordination, and assessment preparation. We've navigated this process multiple times and know what DISA expects.
FedRAMP to FedRAMP+ Transition
12 to 20 WeeksFor CSPs with existing FedRAMP High authorization seeking DoD PA. We map your current controls to SRG requirements, identify infrastructure changes needed for dedicated environments, and guide you through the DISA review process.
Classified Environment Consulting (IL-6)
OngoingStrategic advisory for organizations building or operating IL-6 classified cloud environments. Includes SCIF requirements, air-gap architecture, cleared personnel considerations, and coordination with cognizant security agencies.
Continuous Monitoring for DoD
OngoingEstablish and operationalize continuous monitoring programs that satisfy both FedRAMP and DoD requirements. Includes ConMon reporting, POA&M management, and annual assessment coordination with DISA.
